This piece was salvaged from an old redwood root ball that was reclaimed from someone's backyard. Together with our salvager, we picked the area out of the rootball to cut out based on what our client wanted. Then days of cleaning and sanding, and sanding....and sanding. But in the end it came out spectacularily. With all sorts of wonderful redwood burling all over the piece, you get this sort of modern organic look to it: the cut smooth surfaces in contrast to the raw chaos of the root inside the framework of the rectangular cube. In the end it shipped to the client in Miami to have a large slab of glass intsalled on it for a spectacular dining table.
