Tribal elephant

Standing oil lamp
A lost wax casting oil lamp done in the traditional Kerala style. Little cotton wicks go into the little tray at the top, pour a little ultra pure lamp oil, light it up and you have a pretty stunning and serene object.
Sandstone Lakshmi head

head before the photo was taken, so picture a little spacing between

Saggy horse
I love the pieces that come from this area of Kerala. Each piece is hand cast and then the detail pieces are added on later. Each piece is a unique piece specifically becasue there is so much hand work that comes after the casting. I love the curved "sagging" back of the horse, although I'm hoping it's the artists liberal liscense at work here.

Elephant head piece
A stunning brass and fabric elephant head piece called a nettipallum. Each piece of prass is hand stitched on to the heavy cotton fabric and Used in spectacular Indian fextivals and ceremonies.
Lakshmi
A nice and heavy silver and brass solid casting of the Indian god Lakshmi - the god of prosperity, generosity and beauty (among other attributes).
Hanging bronze oil lamp
A beautiful, hand cast bronze oil lamp. Even the chain is hand cast - not linked together by individual links. The tray at the top with the little fingers are where you put a wick (cotton kitchen string does the trick), specifically ultra pure lamp oil so it only burns with a wick, and you have a pretty stunning, serene object that reflects an ancient part of India.
Wood wall shrines
These are all old wall shrins that would have traditionally had a little god figure or a photo of a family member in them as a form of prayer/meditation. We can put these on a stand for you for an additional $25. Or picture a series of them "floating" on a wall.
Bronze cooking bowl - uruly
These start at $125 for a 10" diamteter and go all the way up to around $3500 for a 40" diamteter. Hand made in every aspect from making the sand for the mold in a specific recipie to melting the bronze to casting the piece itself, these pieces are all antiques and reflect an amazing period in the history of Kerala, India.

Bronze ankle bracelet
These are festival ankle bracelets from Kerala. We have singles as well as pairs. They have little beads inside them so they rattle while the dancer is spinning around. We also can put them on a stand for you for an additional $45.
Print blocks
Indian textile block prints. Rather than just buying a pile of them on our buying trips, we sit down and go through literally hundreds of them, selecting maybe a hundred in our final group. The point is, these are really nice ones. We can also put them on a stand for an additional $25. Picture a group of five at varying heights on a mantle, or a group of 15 "floating" on a wall.
Betel nut boxes
These are old Burmese betel nut boxes - used for storing betel nut to smoke. They are made out of coiled bamboo and layer upon layer of lacquer. We actually found these in Kerala where there is a large contingent of ex-pat Burmese. Beautiful decorative pieces that open up with a single tray inside.
Vegetable dyed antique bed legs
Antque bed legs painted with vegetable dyes, very specific to this part of India: Kerala. They are around 24" tall, and to find a group in this good of shape is quite rare these days. We also turn these into pretty stunning lamps - those will run you $445 each.
bronze temple bell
A great reproduction and a wonderful casting of a traditional Thai temple bell - complete with the two Nagas - or dragons and two elephants. It's around 10" tall on its own and would also look really good on a solid stone or wood stand (
one more photo).
brass bowl gong
A nice and thick brass bowl around 11" in diameter that not only gets rung by doing the around the lip of the bowl thing, but typically it was also used by just striking it like a gong. It has a truly beautiful sound to it that rings for well over a minute. Its also old. You could also do our favorite thing - fill it with water and float flowers in it.
African goat hair fly swats
These are fly swats or swishes with goat hair that would have most likely been used by some sort of village official. Wood carved handle with hair swish tied together with really nicely done copper weaving. $185 each

Old fabric print blocks from southern India
Old print blocks used on fabrics, these come in a variety of sizes and shapes, and we sell them on the stand for $70 as well as no stand for $30. We hand select each one, typically sorting through around three to four hundred and coming away with just one hundred. I'm just saying, we put maybe a little too much time into picking really nice ones.
Five layer silver necklace from Laos
An elegant low grade silver necklace from a hill tribe on the border of Laos and China. Each tribe has their own formal jewelry - I think this one is from the Miao tribe, but I could be wrong and will try to find out.
Sugar Grinder Cogs
These are all different types of parts for sugar cane grinders, all
made from some type of fruit wood, they make great little interesting
side tables, with or without a glass top.
Granite Market Weights
These are some of the first things I ever bought on a buying trip and
still remain to be one of my favouriet, not only for their look -
fitting in both modern and traditional homes alike, gardens, door stops
- but equally important to me is their story. From the spice island
coast of south west India, they were used to weigh the spices that
Columbus was on his way to find a faster route to reach this area.

Bronze Ayutthaya style Buddha
A very serene bronze casting of the "touch the earth" pose of Buddha done in the Ayutthaya style.
Bronze cooking bowl called an uruly
These are a very traditional cast bronze bowl from the south of India
called "urulies" (ooh-ruh-lees). All of the pieces we get are antique
and are done in a lost wax techinque. That basically means no to are
exactly alike. They range in price from 8" for $150 all the way up to
38" for around $2500 retail. Great for a number of things like basins
for cool looking vanities to great garden pieces or centerpieces on a
dining table.

These are old turned wood butter churners out of India. They come in a variety of sizes, and each one is turned differently.

Curly Necklace on Stand
